How might we make it easier for car-buyers to find the right car with the right features?

Introduction

CarEdge is an online platform where users can browse through car listings and purchase digital products and services that aids them during the entire car-buying process, being auto professional advocates for the users. One place where analytics and metrics tells us is that the car search is the highest visited page, but also the one where we received the most negative feedback. Knowing this, we sought to improve the experience of how users/buyers can find the right car.

Problem

Car buyers need a place where they can instantly filter out unwanted cars and find quickly find a contenders that would be their dream car.

We constantly received messages through our community and our feedback channels that users wanted improvements to our car search. They spend a considerable amount of time honing in to find the right car.

Design Solution

By designing a new car search with integrated market data, insights, and a new filtering system, we strived to make the car search experience the effortless.

The new car search design is grounded upon three following principles:

  1. Data Oriented
    Our users rely on our data.
  2. Compartmentalization
    Show more data and insights only when users need it.

Filters

We removed, reorganized, and revamped how our filtering system worked. We included datapoints attached to certain groups what would let users know, in context, if a car is worth looking into just by knowing how many there are in the market near them for sale.

We also integrated our Fair Price algorithm to filter through cars we deem a great, good, or fair price.

Market insights

Integrated our CarEdge Market Insights to our listings in our car search. This allows users to not only understand how the car fits against the market but also get a preview of our Buyer's Guide plus directly funneling them to our referral funnel.

Results

The new release of the car search a great milestone. Getting close with the CarEdge community and speaking with them to find the biggest and the smallest pain points they experience was amazing. Our community is very passionate about help others get the best deal and I'm glad we were able to help them as well.

Buy Rate of cars from our users increased from 5% to 14%
Increased user visits to our referral funnel by 10%
